Abstract

Vision of Upcoming “ Health Innovation School “

Prof. Ung-il Chung/Yuichi Tei, M.D., Ph.D.

Kanagawa University of Human Services and Kanagawa Prefecture are to launch a new graduate program “Health Innovation School” in 2019.
Background: Kanagawa Prefecture, one of the world fastest ageing prefectures, faces thee challenges: academic systematization of the “ME-BYO” concept, construction of a new social system, and production of corresponding human resources.
Aims: human resources development, R&D promotion, think-tank formation.
Curriculum outline: Being based on the scheme of the conventional public school of health, the new school drastically incorporates the ME-BYO concept and advanced medical science and technology to produce human resources who can promote social system innovation in various fields including business, hospital administration, government, and research.
Relationship with Kanagawa Prefecture: While Kanagawa Prefecture provides education and research fields, global network and chances to participate in policy making, the new school conducts cutting-edge education and research and functions as a policy think-tank of the prefectural government.
